Google Launches Paid AI Information Agents in Search for Subscribers

A new paid feature lets Search users automate information tracking. Subscribers can now receive real-time updates on topics without manual searches. The rollout covers all AI Mode languages and markets. More users will gain access this summer.

Google has introduced Information agents as a premium feature within Google Search AI Mode, now available to Google AI Ultra subscribers. This new tool, first announced at Google I/O, enables Search to automatically monitor topics and deliver updates, even when users are not actively searching. Robby Stein, a Google executive, confirmed the launch on X, stating that Information agents are now accessible in all AI Mode languages and markets for subscribers.

With Information agents, users can instruct AI Mode to track any subject, from apartment listings to sports news. The agent continuously scans the web—including blogs, news sites, social posts, and real-time data on finance, shopping, and sports—to detect relevant changes. When new information appears, the agent sends detailed updates and direct links, ensuring users stay informed without repeated manual searches.

For example, someone searching for a new apartment can specify their exact requirements, and the agent will alert them when matching listings are found. Similarly, fans can receive instant notifications when their favorite athletes announce new sneaker collaborations. Google plans to expand access to more users later this summer.

This move reflects a broader trend of AI-driven automation in digital platforms. As seen in related developments, enterprise SaaS providers have also begun enabling AI features by default, sometimes raising operational and compliance questions—a topic explored in depth in this analysis of default-on AI in SaaS platforms.
