Snapchat introduces Plans, a built-in hub for creating and managing events. The update targets Partiful’s rise and aims to keep group planning inside Snapchat.

Snapchat is moving into event planning with its new Plans hub, aiming to keep group meetups and party organizing within the app instead of losing users to competitors like Partiful. The company is counting on its 493 million daily users-especially those aged 13 to 24-to prefer a built-in tool over scattered group chats or third-party apps when making plans in real life.

According to Snap’s internal data, more than a third of its U.S. users in the core youth segment already use group chats to coordinate events. Plans is designed to formalize that habit, offering features similar to what’s made Partiful popular. Users can create events, set titles, choose dates and times, invite up to 200 friends, and customize invites with Bitmoji cover art that updates as people RSVP.

"The new My Plans section in Snapchat profiles allows users to view current, upcoming, and past events, while hosts can manage guest lists and update event details."

Invitations are sent directly in one-on-one chats, and guests can reply with “Going,” “Maybe,” or “Can’t Go”-a familiar RSVP system for anyone who’s used Partiful. Hosts see attendee lists in real time, can add more friends, update event details, and send reminders an hour before the event. The feature is meant for everything from birthday parties and sports games to study groups and casual hangouts, all without leaving Snapchat.

Party planning apps have seen a surge in use, with Partiful alone adding over two million users in 2025. By building event management into Chat and using its real-time Map for friend tracking, Snap wants to become the main platform for organizing in-person meetups among its large user base.

"Snapchat Plans events are private and accessible only by invitation, reflecting Snap’s strategy to move coordination from scattered chats into a native, secure tool within the app."

For publishers, creators, and anyone focused on audience engagement, this is more than a product tweak. If Snapchat can make Plans the default way to organize real-world meetups, it could strengthen its hold on Gen Z’s social routines and pull users away from newer competitors. Snap’s willingness to borrow and adapt features from fast-growing rivals like Partiful signals its intent to control not just digital messaging, but the logistics of meeting up offline.

Bloomberg reports that Snap’s launch of Plans is a direct response to Partiful’s rapid growth, with the rival app adding over two million users in 2025 and becoming a major player in event planning.

As TechCrunch details, Snapchat Plans lets users handle every part of event organization inside the app, from sending private invites to tracking RSVPs and getting reminders before events start.
