Reddit is making its Max AI-powered ad campaigns available to every advertiser, adding API integration and new creative controls aimed at lowering costs and boosting conversions.

Reddit is rolling out its Max campaigns to all advertisers, expanding access to its AI-driven ad automation tools worldwide. The update is designed to attract more digital ad budgets by promising better performance and simpler campaign management.

According to Reddit, brands using Max campaigns have seen an average 17% drop in costs and a 27% increase in conversions compared to standard campaigns. For marketers and agencies, these results can mean the difference between scaling up or cutting back. The new API integration lets third-party tools connect directly, making it easier to automate and manage campaigns at scale.

Reddit reported a 39% year-over-year increase in advertising revenue for Q1 2024, highlighting the growing impact of its AI-powered ad solutions.

Smartly, an AI-based ad management platform, is the first external tool to support Max campaigns through Reddit’s API. This partnership allows marketers to build and optimize Max campaigns using familiar third-party interfaces, reducing friction and enabling more advanced cross-platform strategies.

Reddit is also adding asset groups, a feature that lets advertisers organize multiple creative sets within a single Max campaign. Each group can focus on a different product or use case, with its own headlines, media, and destination URLs. Advertisers can report on each group separately, making it easier to see which products and messages are working. This setup is meant to help brands test and refine their campaigns without having to manage dozens of separate ad sets.

This push into AI-powered automation follows Reddit’s earlier experiments with video ad formats, as reported previously. The platform has been adding new tools to compete with rivals that already offer advanced automation and creative optimization. By making Max campaigns available to everyone and opening up API access, Reddit is betting that advertisers want less manual setup and more data-driven results.

In March 2024, Reddit completed its highly anticipated IPO, raising approximately $748 million and debuting on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol 'RDDT'. This public offering marked a significant milestone for the company, providing fresh capital to invest in advertising technology and AI-driven solutions.

For publishers, agencies, and in-house teams, the changes are immediate. Campaign setup is faster, creative testing takes less effort, and performance reporting is more detailed. The Smartly integration points to a future where Reddit ads can be managed alongside campaigns on other major platforms, making budget allocation more flexible. The real question is whether these automation tools will keep delivering strong results as more advertisers join and competition for attention grows.

Reddit’s move signals a push to compete with the biggest digital ad platforms. By opening Max campaigns to all and supporting third-party integrations, Reddit is aiming to move beyond its reputation as a niche community site. The early numbers are promising, but the real test will be whether marketers can use these tools to drive real business results, not just small efficiency gains. As automation becomes standard, Reddit’s open approach could help it stand out-or reveal the limits of AI-driven ad optimization on a platform known for unpredictable user behavior.
