ChatGPT Ads Rolls Out Conversion Bidding and Geo Exclusions

Advertisers gain new tools for campaign optimization, conversion tracking, and budget pacing. ChatGPT Ads now supports geo exclusions, mobile measurement integrations, and bulk campaign management, making it more competitive with established ad platforms.

ChatGPT Ads has introduced a suite of new features aimed at helping advertisers drive better results and manage campaigns more efficiently. The latest update brings conversion-focused bidding, enhanced measurement, and improved budget controls to the platform.

Among the most notable additions is the ability to launch conversion-optimized cost-per-click (oCPC) campaigns by selecting the Conversions objective. This allows campaigns to automatically prioritize clicks that are more likely to convert, while still charging on a CPC basis.

Starting next week, advertisers will see daily budgets shift to an average daily budget model calculated over a rolling seven-day period. This change enables daily spend to fluctuate while keeping overall budgets in check. Additionally, daily budgets are now paced throughout the day to help distribute spend more evenly.

Advertisers can now exclude specific geographic locations from campaign targeting, giving them more control over where ads appear. New integrations with AppsFlyer and Adjust make it possible to track app installs and in-app events directly from ChatGPT Ads campaigns, streamlining mobile measurement.

Website conversion tracking has also been upgraded with Automatic Advanced Matching, which uses hashed customer data to improve attribution. This feature can be enabled under Tools > Conversions > Data Source.

For those managing campaigns at scale, the Ads API now supports asynchronous bulk creation and updates for campaigns, ad groups, and ads. Product feed campaigns are also being refreshed with updated product cards that display pricing and star ratings.

These updates bring ChatGPT Ads closer to the capabilities found in more established platforms like Google Ads and Meta Ads. The addition of conversion-optimized bidding, geo exclusions, and bulk API support addresses key needs for performance marketers and agencies managing large-scale campaigns.

Industry observers have noted that the platform is maturing rapidly, with core infrastructure improvements that lower the barrier for advertisers to test and scale campaigns. Many of these features mirror those that marketers already rely on elsewhere, making ChatGPT Ads a more practical option for a wider range of advertisers.

For comparison, Google has recently expanded its own ad platform capabilities, such as enabling business data feeds in Demand Gen campaigns for non-retail sectors. This trend toward more flexible and automated campaign management is reshaping how advertisers approach digital channels. See how Google is adapting in this report on business data feeds in Demand Gen.

ChatGPT Ads continues to evolve from an emerging platform into a robust solution for performance-driven marketers, with new tools that enhance optimization, measurement, automation, and scalability.
