A major acquisition in out-of-home advertising shifts the independent agency landscape. Talon has purchased PJX Media, aiming to expand its US presence. PJX will keep its brand and leadership under the new ownership.
Independent out-of-home (OOH) agency Talon has acquired PJX Media, a move the company says positions it as the largest independent OOH specialist in the United States. The deal, for which financial terms were not disclosed, is intended to strengthen Talon's US footprint and client base.
Talon, originally founded in the UK, entered the US market in 2018 and has since pursued acquisitions and partnerships to grow its presence. With the addition of PJX Media, Talon reports it now serves 400 clients in the US and 450 across North America, though specific client names and billing figures were not released. The company stated that PJX will continue to operate as a separate agency to maintain continuity for clients and partners.
PJX Media was established by John Laramie and Josh Warrum after they developed the ADstruc software platform in 2010, which automated OOH planning and buying by tracking ad inventory nationwide. In 2024, PJX sold ADstruc to Vistar, which now licenses the platform to OOH buyers and sellers across the country.
Rick Robinson, who became CEO of PJX in 2022, will remain in his role and report to Ryan Laul, CEO of Talon North America. According to both companies, PJX will gain access to Talon's broader programmatic, technology, data, and effectiveness resources as part of the acquisition.
Sue Frogley, Global CEO at Talon, described the acquisition as a significant step for the company and emphasized PJX's strong reputation and complementary services. She said the combined group aims to create a stronger platform for clients, partners, and future growth.
